Bio:
Melissa Carmody is an Accredited Practising Dietitian, starting out her career in the field after recently graduating from the University of Sydney.
Mel has always had a passion for sport, with most of her childhood weekends spent on the netball or beach volleyball court. This was the start of her interest in health and food, leading her to study Exercise Sport Science and Nutrition with honours in Dietetics.
During her honours year Mel spent 5 weeks at the rural base hospital in beautiful Orange, NSW. This is where her passion for clinical dietetics grew as she enjoyed the diversity of patients and medical conditions along with the community spirit felt working in a rural setting.
Since graduation, Mel has been working on numerous consultancy projects including research for ‘The Good Enough Diet’ written by Tara Diversi and Dr Adam Fraser. Mel has two clinical dietitian locum positions which she is thrilled to be starting, firstly at a local private hospital before she is off to country NSW to complete 3 months in Dubbo. She is delighted to be starting her career doing something she loves, and looks forward to many more exciting opportunities to spread the word on healthy, nutritious and delicious food.
If Mel’s not on a hospital ward she can be found in the kitchen testing out a new recipe or training for her first half marathon. She would love to hear from you whether it’s food news, training tips or just to say hi. You can follow her on twitter @MelissaCarmody.
