9 reasons we love Peanut Butter by Emma Stirling APD

You only have to click around social media to see that there is a very strong nut butter love affair going on. From morning spelt toast to a satisfying snack with apple slices, (and sometimes a sneaky spoonful from the jar), #peanutbutter is trending. So when KRAFT Nuts approached us to become a Scoop Supporter earlier this year for their new Naturals range made from 100% peanuts we said, yes please! In this post we take you through all the reasons why we love peanut butter:

Plant based and 100% natural

Did you know? Peanuts actually belong to the legume family and are grown in the ground, not on trees like other nuts. KRAFT Natural Peanut Butter Smooth and KRAFT Natural Peanut Butter Crunchy are fabulous newcomers made from, wait for it, 100 per cent peanuts, and absolutely nothing else. Ingredients = Peanuts (100%). Don’t you love that?

Healthy fats with high oleic peanuts

The days of strict low fat eating have gone out with 80’s shoulder pads. Healthy fats from avocados, seeds, nuts and peanut butter, plus culinary oils like extra virgin are now hailed for their essential nutrients. But more importantly how they can turn a ho-hum meal, like a bowl of salad, into a satisfying sensation. KRAFT Nuts source high-oleic peanuts grown to have a naturally higher level of oleic acid, which is rich in monounsaturated fats.

Protein packed

Peanuts are naturally rich in protein, which makes each tablespoon serving of KRAFT Naturals 100% Peanut Butter (22g) a very compact source of protein at 6.0g/serve and boosts PB’s satisfying effect.

Mega magnesium

Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzyme systems in your body and intricately related to healthy metabolism. 1 tablespoon serving of KRAFT Natural 100% Peanut Butter (22g) provide 14% RDI for magnesium.

Nice! Niacin

Niacin is another essential vitamin involved in energy metabolism and 1 tablespoon serving of KRAFT Natural 100% Peanut Butter (22g) provide 29% RDI for niacin.

Vegan friendly (and gluten free too)

Another hashtag that’s trending around town is #vegan. And even if you’re a meat eater like me, chances are you’re loving the surge in ancient grain salads and meat-free meals gracing menus at hipster cafes. Peanut butter is the perfect pairing for a satay veggie burger or a “super” food smoothie.

All day deliciousness……

Peanut butter is one of those few foods that takes you right through the day. We have loved working with the KRAFT Nuts culinary team on our recipes so far and have more to come! Check out our breakfast series with Peanut Butter Granola and Wholemeal Peanut Butter Chia Pancakes.

…..and into a smarter supper snack too

And if you’re home late and looking for a smart snack, keep a stash of our Spicy Peanut Butter Hummus in the fridge.   Add vegetable crudités and some pita bread crisped in the oven and you’re now an entertainer!

 Good enough for Elvis

Elvis is famous for his love affair with peanut butter and debate surrounds the exact makeup of his famous sanger.  Some reports have lashings of bacon and peanut butter all deep-fried between thick white bread. But his mum is quoted as saying that growing up his favourite was that heavenly mash up of banana and PB toastie. Add a little cinnamon, and I’m all shook up.

We suspect that our lovely readers have your own peanut butter lover ideas too? How about it? Love to hear your ideas. #peanutbutterlover #scoopnutrition #kraftnaturals
