Feed of Kids - Nepa Earthquake

It’s not time yet to forget Nepal by Emma Stirling APD

In the immediate aftermath of the devastating Nepal earthquake it’s the faces of kids that impact me the most. The sad kids. The traumatised kids. And probably because I place such a big emphasis on the ability of food to nurture, the hungry kids.

World Vision - kids in Nepal

It’s why I was first drawn to becoming a World Vision Blogger Ambassador. Yes, sure, I wanted to use my social media for social good.  But I also was a little selfish too.  I needed to learn more, and feel more reassured, about the hope provided in times of natural disasters and man made devastation.  Over the years I’ve seen for myself the immediate response World Vision brings plus the amazing community development work they undertake, quietly and sensitively, in countless needy countries around the world.  So I’m not surprised one bit when I see CEO Tim Costello on the evening news and hear that he is the first to access remote areas of Nepal with a World Vision team. He’s not a guy to sit back and wait. And rapid response is the name of their game.

So look!  Kids are getting fed, well at least the fortunate ones, like at this Kathmandu camp below eating cooked potato and green vegetables with chiura (beaten rice).
