Hip, hip hooray it’s our 2nd blog birthday!

Yes, that’s right, we’re celebrating big time today in the press room.  Another successful year has passed and it’s time to give thanks, make sure you caught the headlines and give you the scoop on what we’re cooking up next.

We loved….

Bringing…… you more fantastic dietitians and nutritionists, thanks for the wonderful posts Denise Leyden, Camey Demmitt, Julie Masci, Jessica Fishman Levinson, Dr Rosemary Stanton, Marsha Hudnall, Jemma O’Hanlon, Jane Read, Lisa Yates, Natasha Jo Leader, Kate Bullen, Kate Freeman, Nicole Senior, Heidi Thornton, Sarah Patterson, Trudy Williams, Nicki Briggs, Milena Katz & Liz Beavis and Amanda Clark.

Launching…… the Sub of the Month mentoring program and encouraging more nutritionists and dietitians to jump on line professionally.  Thank you to all our amazing Subs so far: Mel Haynes, Melissa Carmody, Ashleigh Jones, Deb Blakley, Jenna Obeid, Sharon Brooks and Shae Rickards. We can’t wait to have you back again soon, and to the savvy students, watching your successful career unfold.

Founding…… our live twitter chat #EatKit in conjunction with Catherine Saxelby of FoodWatch.

Helping…others and using social media for social good.  One of our most important posts was helping Japan after disaster.  Collectively with other bloggers we raised just under $67,000.

It’s time to say a huge thanks to…

You.  Yes, you. Our lovely readers and supporters.  We can’t thank you enough for your comments and interest in sound nutrition.

Thanks to Trevor Young for including us on the BlogHub Australia directory, Janet Helm for highlighting our blog as a success story at American Dietitians Association conference and to GI News and The Food Coach for our guest posting.  And to the National Library of Australia for inculding us in the Pandora, Australia’s Web Archive database (no idea if anyone uses this ancient looking site, but it sounds impressive).

Thanks to all the wonderful Recipe Redux members who inspire us in the Kitchen Klinic, especially founding dietitians Regan Miller Jones, Deanna Segrave-Daly and Serena Ball.

Sincere thanks to Ocean Spray for being our first Scoop Supporter and enabling us to have our Scoop Sub of the Month program.  If you know anyone who may be interested in supporting us contact us here for details or a media kit.

Finally to Fleur in the Scoop newsroom, for going above and beyond.

We’re excited to announce….

The launch of our new initiative, The Urban Forage Files and would love YOU to be involved.  It’s a collective way to share all our foodie finds around the globe, outside the big supermarkets.  Don’t get me wrong, supermarkets are full of fab food too, but it’s important to expand your horizons. You may like to upload a pic of your home grown tomatoes? A pin or picture and link to your local farmers market? Country cooking school? Or a speciality food store, artisan or handmade product?  If you’re a blogger, make sure you pin your related posts too. You can join in by:

– Follow or become a contributor to our shared board on Pinterest.  Email me and we’ll add you: emmastirling@scoopnutrition.com

– Use this hashtag #urbanforage to tag photos on instagram or twitter.

We’ll be selecting top picks to feature on our blog and facebook page…stay tuned later this week when I reveal my new, vintage shopping trolley.  We also have a growing number of fab boards on Pinterest, like this one on hot new, nutrition and recipe books.  But I’ll leave you with my favourite image so far below.  And ask you to please take a mo to give us feedback in the comments. Do you like us? What do you want more of? How can we help YOU?
