The #Urbanforage files pinteresting update – by Emma Stirling APD, Editor.

Hello lovely readers.  Have you heard about our Scoop Pinterest project? Perhaps you’d like to become one of our team of pinners? We know you have some super clever finds to share.  And if you haven’t as yet discovered Pinterest, don’t even read this.  STOP right now and click away.  Pinterest is being dubbed as the next Twitter and we promise you will become easily hooked.

Pinterest is what???

Pinterest is like an online look book, mood board or clipping file that you share with friends and followers.  You can also search Pinterest, follow other people or just one of their boards and repin or save someone’s excellent idea onto one of your “boards” or files.  Most people start off using Pinterest to redesign their bathroom or style that wedding.  When dietitian Heidi from Apples under my bed was wedding planning, I put together this Wedding board as a little gift.

But Pinterest is also being picked up by big business ….yes just like the twitter phenomenon, Pinterest has tipped over into mainstream media.

The Scoop on Pinterest

As you know we’re big on sharing credible sources of info on food, nutrition and health, so Pinterest is a great collating tool. You can upload a photo to Pinterest or install a pin tool on your browser and then add any images and web links from your healthy surfing.  Out of respect to the source and to avoid copyright issues, make sure you always aim to pin the original blog post, photographers image or website.  Read more about Pinterest etiquette here.

On our Scoop Nutrition Pinterest  boards we have:  Hot, nutrition and cook books, Scoop Nutrition Recipes, Scoop Nutrition Blog Posts and more.  And you can also see some of my own personal picks, like my “Kitchen Bucket List” board with pincredible kitchens like this:

But what I really wanted to tell you about is our board for The #UrbanForage Files.  Described as – Our shared food finds outside the big supermarkets – backyard: roadside: farmers market: food fair: specialty shop – we have fantastic Pins from around the globe.  Now don’t get me wrong.  I love a browse down the supermarket aisles too.  But I think we could all challenge ourselves a little more to get out and explore. Here’s a taste:

Thanks to our 20plus pinners for their contributions so far.  If you’re on Pinterest, perhaps you’d like to join in? Just email me emmastirling@scoopnutrition.com with your Pinterest handle or leave a comment below and we’ll add you and promote your Pins too.
